History of Spotlight Campus:
Spotlight Campus was founded in October 2009 by Kelly Steffen, Matt Barkell, Chelsea Burnett, and Dan Redford. It is a spin off of a student run company the four helped create called Spotlight Michigan, which continues to be operated by the students of the Michigan Futures Seminar. The company decided to form after the success of Eve of Ignition, an idea sharing competition for students. Spotlight Campus is committed to proliferating this and other similar events throughout the United States.
Our Philosophy:
Spotlight Campus is geared at plugging students into economic development and community growth strategies. We believe that the only way to truly infuse talent into a community is by providing them opportunities to make their own investments in the community. That way, when they graduate, they’ll have the desire to contribute actively to the community that they’ve helped develop.
